Updated: Apr 24
These steps were put together as a collaboration with #DesignBuildMagazine and #MaplewoodCustomHomes to bring you the 13 design-build process steps over the next several weeks for a greater understanding of #DesignBuildProcess for your next new home.
Step #5. Choose the neighborhood you want to live in
Choose the lot, acreage, or neighborhood where you want to live. - You may already have a good idea where you want to live. But once you know the style of house you want to build, you will know whether or not you can do that in the neighborhood you want to build in.
Check covenants and building restrictions. Different neighborhoods have different covenants and restrictions on the types of houses that can be built. Your design build tea
m will help you to work with local officials to find out what you can and cannot build. Too often when building a new home people buy the lot and then realize they cannot do what they wanted to do. Let the builder help you find the right lot.
Research the neighborhood and area. Does the neighborhood have a reputable school district? Is it growing or declining in population? What is the crime rate? If you ever need to sell you home, these will all be important factors that will affect the resale value of your home.
**As your family grows your wants and needs change, so your professional design-build contractor will help you qualify now and in the future with their experience the best homes in the best neighborhoods for you now and in the future while keeping in mind resale value.
